The South River Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable members of our community, Children.

There are approximately 49,000 students enrolled in the Portland Public School system.  61 % of the elementary students, and 50% of the high school students are eligible for the Free Lunch Program.  Meaning that approximately 27,200 of these children are living in households that are struggling to meet their family’s needs.

We fundraise year-round to support the Coats for Kids project. We identify the children in need through the local schools, order the coats in early November, and distribute them before Thanksgiving.
