South Riverside Foundation Coats for Kids Project

The South River Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the most valuable and vulnerable members of our Portland metropolitan community: CHILDREN.
There are approximately 49,000 students enrolled in just the Portland Public School system. 61 % of the elementary students, and 50% of the high school students are eligible for the Free Lunch Program. Meaning that approximately 27,200 of these children are living in households that are struggling to meet their family’s needs.
We fundraise year-round to support the Coats for Kids project. We identify the children in need though area schools, shelters and family outreach programs, order the coats in early November, and distribute them before Thanksgiving.
Tax deductible donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Your donation will change the life of a child. Go to the DONATE tab today and join us in making a difference!

Warm Hearts, Warm Coats for Kids

Children are our most precious, but also most vulnerable, members of our community.

Empowering Communities

Empowering communities is at the heart of what Coats for Kids strives to achieve. By providing children in need with warm, durable coats, the organization not only addresses a critical necessity but also fosters a sense of unity and support within the community. Local volunteers, donors, and partner organizations come together to ensure that no child has to endure the cold without proper clothing. This collective effort strengthens community bonds, creates a culture of giving, and empowers individuals to contribute to meaningful change.

Compassion in Action

Every child in our community deserves to have a new winter coat. The need for winter clothing is so great that the South Riverside Foundation’s sole funddraiser is for the Coats for Kids project. Giving a child a new winter coat has a dramatic and measurable impact on a child’s self-esteem, on their participation in school and school activities, and in their ability to learn.

Equality and Inclusion

At Coats for Kids equality and inclusion are core principles that guide their mission. The organization is committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, receives the warmth and protection they deserve. By distributing coats to children from all walks of life, Coats for Kids breaks down barriers and promotes a sense of belonging for all. Their efforts aim to create an inclusive environment where no child is left out or made to feel different.
